This is probably the most asked question and honestly a personal preference.  With so many different types of wig adhesives and brands, which one should I use? and why?

Let's start with why you would want to use a wig adhesive.  Wig adhesives provide a strong and secure hold for lace front wigs or with people who have no hair. While there are also non-adhesive ways to secure your wig (which I will devote another blog to), let's explore what we have to offer!

Colors of tape and what they are used for:

1. Blue Tape. This is ideal to secure a wig's lace front area. When used properly, this adhesive goes on clear for a natural looking finish. It is best removed gently with our Lace Remover as lace front can be fragile. We offer it in a 9' roll or packaged in pre-cut strips.
2. Red Tape. This double sided tape is clear in color but packaged with a red liner. Red tape is ultra sticky and should be used on POLYURETHANE ONLY (the plastic-like area of your wig, topper or toupee). It is designed to be replaced after each wear, but can have an extended life. Use the proper tape remover such as our C-22 solvent.
3. White Tape or clear double-sided tape. This tape is hypoallergenic and has a hold time of 1-7 days making this perfect for constant or daily removal of wigs, toupee, hair extensions and other hair systems. We currently don't sell this one in our boutique but since we are exploring the different tapes, it needs mentioning.
4. Extended Wear Tape. This bond is also for use on polyurethane only. Long lasting hold up to 2- weeks. Not currently sold in our boutique but worth mentioning.

Now we have our liquid adhesives to talk about. There are different strengths and application methods with liquid adhesives from water-proof to water soluble.  This is where there personal preference comes in.  For hair replacement systems, you will want a water-proof liquid for longer wear.  Many salons offer this service for their customers. Cons of using liquid adhesives or even some tape adhesives is that it sticks to hair, and your biological hair can suffer damage if not used properly. We currently carry in our boutique the following liquid adhesives

• It Stays! body adhesive. It is water soluble and can be worn directly on the skin. Holds up almost anything that may slip on your skin. A very popular product.
• Lace Hairpiece adhesive. This liquid adhesive has a 7-10 day wear time and is specially designed for hair pieces. Just like the blue tape, proper removal is important to save your delicate lace.
